An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated nurse to join the Colorectal Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) team at Kettering General Hospital.

The post holder will play a key role in ensuring that patients, their relatives and healthcare professionals have access to expert colorectal cancer support throughout the patient pathway.

As a core member of the multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of new clinical pathways, supporting the delivery of a progressive and innovative service. This will include providing specialist nursing care and ongoing management for patients with colorectal cancer across all stages of their pathway, including treatment, follow-up and, where appropriate, palliative care.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will join the Colorectal Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) team to provide expert clinical care and holistic support to patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated nurse who is able to work autonomously and effectively under pressure within this busy specialty. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, organisational and time management skills.

Significant experience in the care and management of patients with colorectal cancer is essential for this role.

The post holder will work as part of a dynamic and cohesive multidisciplinary colorectal team, committed to delivering a high‑quality, patient‑centred service.

Person specification Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse / Current NMC registration
  • Nursing Degree or equivalent level of education, training or experience
  • Evidence of continued development
  • Recognised teaching/mentoring qualification
  • Advanced Communication training or willingness to undertake
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Oncology/Colorectal Cancer
  • Counselling Experience
Knowledge & Experience
  • Specialist knowledge or interest in speciality
  • Evidence of primary care health delivery strategy
  • Working in partnership with internal and external agencies
  • Making direct referrals to members of MDT
  • Evidence of operational management in a clinical setting
  • Maintained speciality qualifications in current clinical practice
