Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 8a Nurse Endoscopist to join our Endoscopy Service. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic practitioner with a positive, proactive approach and a passion for delivering outstanding patient care. You will become part of a friendly, supportive and innovative team committed to providing high-quality, patient-centred services. The successful candidate will be an NMC-registered nurse who has completed a recognised training programme leading to a Non-Medical Endoscopist qualification (or equivalent), is currently working towards this qualification, or is willing and able to undertake the required training.
You will utilise advanced clinical skills within GI Endoscopy and Bowel Cancer Screening, undertaking patient assessment, health education, treatment evaluation and counselling for patients with gastrointestinal conditions. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the continued development of a modern and forward-thinking Endoscopy Service, working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver safe, effective and compassionate care. Vacancies are available at both Kettering General Hospital (KGH) and Northampton General Hospital (NGH).
Cross-site working may be required to support service delivery across the Group.
The successful candidate will provide a high-quality, nurse-led service for patients undergoing gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy and bowel cancer screening, ensuring care is delivered in accordance with national and local guidelines, JAG standards and best practice. The post holder will undertake endoscopic procedures, patient assessment, clinical examination and consent, ensuring timely investigation, evaluation and escalation of findings where required. They will provide expert advice, education and support to patients throughout their diagnostic and treatment pathway, promoting a positive patient experience and excellent clinical outcomes.
Working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, the post holder will contribute to service development, clinical audit, research and quality improvement initiatives to support evidence-based practice and continual service enhancement. They will play a key role in developing nurse-led services, supporting innovation and maintaining high standards of patient safety, clinical governance and professional practice in line with Trust and NMC requirements.
