We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Highways Maintenance Operative to join our Area 7 Strategic Highways team based at our Pytchley and Rothersthorpe Depots
.
Collaborating closely with National Highways, Amey delivers essential maintenance and operational services across the strategic road network, helping to keep road users safe and connected.
As a Highways Maintenance Operative, you will play an important role in delivering routine and reactive highway maintenance activities, temporary traffic management, winter services and emergency response operations across the network.
The standard hours of work are an average of 42 hours per week
, working 12-hour day and night shifts on a 4-on, 4-off rotation
.
- Deliver routine and cyclic highway maintenance activities.
- Install, maintain and remove temporary traffic management.
- Undertake minor civil engineering works and general highway repairs.
- Carry out litter picking and environmental maintenance activities.
- Support winter maintenance operations including gritting activities.
- Participate in emergency call-out and standby arrangements.
- Operate vehicles and plant equipment safely and effectively.
- Complete vehicle inspections and report defects accurately.
- Record driver hours and resource utilisation in line with company procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation.
- Liaise with colleagues, subcontractors, emergency services, clients and members of the public.
- Take responsibility for health, safety and wellbeing, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and procedures.

- Driver CPC Qualification (35 hours).
- Appropriate CSCS Card.
- Personal Highways Passport.

- Experience working within highways maintenance or a similar operational environment.
- Experience operating vehicles and plant equipment.
