Warehouse Operative - Afternoon shift

Location: Kettering

Pay Rate: £14.40 per hour (equivalent to £30,000 per annum) plus a 15% shift allowance for unsociable hours worked after 7pm

Contract Type: Contract role (agency ongoing position)

Shift Pattern: 14:00 – 22:00, Monday to Friday, with an on-call rota for weekends and rotational bank holiday working

Our client is a leading railway infrastructure organisation dedicated to delivering excellence within the rail industry. They are seeking committed and detail-oriented Warehouse Operatives / FLT Drivers to join their team. In this crucial role, you will ensure the availability of materials and support warehouse operations, including picking, packing, storage, kitting, and distribution of components, maintaining exceptional service standards.

• Warehouse Operations:
  • Accurately and efficiently pick stock using handheld or mobile devices, ensuring data integrity within the warehouse management system.
  • Perform picking, packing, shipping, receiving, put-away, and kitting of components in accordance with established procedures.
• Quality Assurance:
  • Adhere to packing procedures and guidelines to maintain high-quality standards, including correct use of packing materials and techniques to protect items during transit and storage.
  • Verify all picked stock and assembled loads prior to despatch using designated systems.
  • Handle stock with care to ensure it reaches customers and suppliers in pristine condition.
• Inventory Control:
  • Support inventory management by maintaining accurate records of packed items to sustain precise stock levels.
• Housekeeping:
  • Maintain clean, organised, and safe work areas consistently to high standards.
• Health and Safety:
  • Operate safely within a team environment, fully complying with site health and safety regulations and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Contribute to operational efficiency by supporting warehouse and site hygiene standards.

• Proven warehouse experience is essential.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate stock management.
• Good hand, eye, and foot coordination to operate mechanical handling equipment safely.
• Reliable, self-motivated, adaptable, and a collaborative team player.
• Effective communication skills to facilitate smooth warehouse operations.
• Valid FLT licence for Counterbalance, VNA, Flexi Bendi, or Reach truck – mandatory.
