Daycare Teacher - Infant / Toddler / Preschool

$12.00-$15.50/Hour

Position Summary:

Assists in the planning, development, and implementation of all classroom activities. The Assistant Teacher is responsible for ensuring the children’s social, physical, spiritual, and mental development within the program, with safety and the children’s wellbeing as top priorities.

Essential Functions:

  • Plan, develop, and implement weekly lesson plans tailored to children’s needs, interests, and developmental levels.
  • Collaborate effectively with Lead Teachers, Site Administrators, staff, and partners.
  • Document attendance, absences, transitions, minor disciplinary actions, and incidents for each child.
  • Manage the appearance and organization of the classroom and outdoor areas, ensuring supplies and equipment are maintained and orderly.
  • Report and disinfect broken or unsafe toys and equipment regularly, following state regulations.
  • Conduct the program following Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with parents through verbal and written reports and conduct parent/teacher conferences as per Center guidelines.
  • Understand child abuse and neglect laws and follow proper reporting procedures.
  • Handle discipline promptly according to policy, and report any special needs or concerns of children, staff, or parents to the supervisor.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the child care and program areas.
  • Ensure appropriate adult-to-child ratios.
  • Fill in other classrooms when needed and participate in parent events and family programs.
  • Attend staff meetings, activities, and ongoing training sessions, including those mandated by ODJFS regulations.
  • Stay informed about NAEYC or NAA accreditation standards and complete required documentation.
  • Conduct screenings and assessments within designated time frames.
  • Maintain records for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
  • Report concerns, repairs, or incidents to the supervisor promptly.
  • Possess a safe driving record and the ability to transport up to 14 children if required.
  • Work during summer months and at Day Camp as needed.
  • Protect confidential information about participants, families, and staff.
  • Qualifications:

    • Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED; an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
    • Six months of experience in early childhood is strongly preferred.
