Minimum Qualifications- At least three years of experience preparing individual tax returns, including federal, state, school district, and city income taxes.
- Comfortable interviewing clients and completing tax returns with clients present.
- Valid PTIN issued by the IRS.
- Experience with Schedule C, Schedule D, and Schedule
E.
- Strong business tax preparation experience with extensive knowledge of tax laws, evidenced by 3+ years of recent experience with federal and state business tax returns.
- Minimum of 2 tax seasons of personal tax preparation, with at least 30 returns per year in a paid setting.
- Bookkeeping experience related to tax preparation.
- Experience preparing business tax returns for service industry clients.
- Knowledge of Circular 230.
- Proficiency with computer operations and software.
- Excellent customer service, communication, problem-solving, and research skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Experience supervising a tax team and supporting staff.
- Supervise tax team and support staff.
- Communicate with the owner regarding staffing, recruiting, and hiring seasonal employees.
- Maximize customer service and sales.
- Perform administrative functions, monitor schedules, and ensure quality standards.
- Review productivity and performance reports, address issues as needed.
- Maintain organized filing systems for tax returns.
- Follow up with clients regarding void/hold returns.
Job Responsibilities
Tax preparation is the top priority. Assist with scheduling, staffing, marketing, recruiting, training, and establishing office goals. Monitor office performance, support staff, and ensure timely processing of tax returns. Develop and execute local marketing strategies, manage office operations, and oversee staff performance and compliance.
Skills for Success- High school diploma or equivalent; related business experience preferred.
- Coursework in management, tax preparation, or accounting is a plus.
- Previous tax preparation experience with a PTIN.
- Management or supervisory experience preferred.
- Proficiency in computer software including email, internet, Word, Excel, and tax software.
