Responsibilities

• Prepare bakery and deli items according to customer requests using proper equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
• Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products in correct portions to prevent shrinkage.
• Recommend bakery or deli items to customers.
• Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens following company guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to safety and cooking instructions, maintaining temperature logs.
• Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients per recipes using appropriate utensils and equipment.
• Package, label, and inventory ingredients and products properly.
• Check product quality and freshness, reviewing "sell by" dates and taking appropriate action.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers, maintaining logs.
• Maintain inventory and stock levels, report discrepancies.
• Create a welcoming environment for customers, answering questions and making suggestions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures, reporting unsafe conditions or accidents.
• Operate and maintain bakery equipment safely and properly.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflicts professionally and act with honesty and integrity.
• Support and assist customers, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Qualifications

• Customer service skills
• Effective communication skills
• Basic math knowledge
• Ability to obtain a food handler's permit upon employment
