Description
The Faculty, Marine Engineering position is a full-time, 10-month Faculty position. This position is an instructional position with duties and responsibilities, which are established in accordance with State Board of Education Rules and Board of Trustee policies. Teaching assignments will include courses in small engines, two and four stroke cycle engines, diesel engines, fiberglass, seamanship, and other courses related to marine engineering.
Hours will vary according to class schedules. This position maintains a 37.5-hour week and reports to the Academic Dean, Marine and Applied Sciences. All instructors are responsible for utilizing the College’s learning management system as all College courses are at a minimum technology enhanced.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Abilities And Skills:
- Ability to deliver high quality instruction in a range of Marine Engineering courses.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Marine Mechanics.
- Ability to commit to the continued effort to stay current in program area.
- Knowledge of College mission, policies, procedures and services.
- Strong student orientation and ability to work with a diverse student population.
- Proficient in use of office, classroom and marine technology, especially that associated with gasoline and diesel engines.
- Ability to perform shop practices according to manufacturer or industry standards to ensure the safety of the staff, students, facilities and equipment.
- Proficient in the mechanics of inboard and outboard engines and systems.
- Ability to manage programs and resources effectively.
- Ability to relate successfully to faculty, staff, students and the community.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to operate and maintain ocean-going vessels.

Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Marine Engineering, Marine Technology, or Seamanship required. Baccalaureate or Master’s in a related field preferred.
- Three (3) years’ teaching experience at the community college level or higher is preferred.
- Three (3) years’ work experience in field is preferred. Verifiable knowledge of vessel (up to 100 gross tons) operations, systems, repairs, and maintenance required.
