Overview

The College of the Florida Keys is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach Accounting as a three-credit course at either the Key West Campus, the Upper Keys Center, or online. The position reports to the Director of Arts and Hospitality. Online instructors must reside in the state of Florida or have the ability to perform their work within the state of Florida.

Responsibilities
  • Prepares, instructs, and grades all coursework and ensures the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures.
  • Effectively uses oral and written communication skills.
  • Maintains regularly scheduled hours to provide instruction for assigned class meeting times, dates, and locations.
  • Maintains records of student attendance.
  • Maintains timely compliance with clerical and administrative responsibilities.
  • Keeps current in the programs being taught.
  • Assists in college recruitment and retention efforts, as appropriate.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Dr. degree in Accounting or a comparable doctoral degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Accounting.
  • Doctorate in Accounting or equivalent experience may be substituted.
  • Prior teaching experience in higher education preferred.
  • Experience using Canvas preferred.
  • Ability to teach in person preferred.
  • Knowledge of the College mission, policies, procedures, and services.
  • Proficient in the use of technology.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively to meet the needs of a diverse student population.
  • Understanding of and commitment to Equal Access/Equal Opportunity.

This is a part-time teaching assignment. Adjunct Instructors earn $543 - $727 per credit hour, based on degree level. Consult the 2024-25 Salary Schedule, available on the College’s website, for additional information.
