SUPERVISORY SALES ASSOCIATE
Location: Key West, Florida
Schedule: Full-Time (35+ hours)
Job SummaryAs a Supervisory Sales Associate, you will be the face of NAVY EXCHANGE SERVICE COMMAND (NEXCOM) to both associates and customers. You will highlight our brand, build our reputation, assist customers in recognizing the need for our products and services, and lead a team to maintain a positive, productive environment. You will stay current on product knowledge and communicate our purpose in an educational, insightful, and professional manner.
Dutiesand Responsibilities Customer Service
- Proactively engage customers and build connections.
- Ask questions and listen to customer needs.
- Direct customers to merchandise and inform them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, and STAR card benefits.
- Provide premier customer service.
- Cooperate and build positive, inclusive relationships while taking accountability for actions and outcomes.
- Maintain store appearance.
- Cross‑sell products and know the store layout.
- Suggest latest trends and promotions based on customer needs.
- Upsell products.
- Learn product features and keep up with trends using company tools and technology.
- Process transactions with a POS system: cash, discounts, gift cards, credit/debit, and correct cash handling.
- Complete paperwork, reports, and reconciliation.
- Inventory: keep merchandise checked in and accurately ticketed; participate in periodic inventories.
- Secure cash, fixed assets, and inventory.
- Provide direction on assignments, prioritize projects, and manage inventory tasks.
- Adhere to assigned work schedule and follow through on assignments.
- Demonstrate effective leadership, training, and motivation of associates.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and timely support; prepare open/close reporting.
- Offer input to the Department Manager on associate performance.
- Open and close locations as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Moderate product knowledge; provide training documentation to associates.
- 1–2 years retail or relevant work experience; 1 year supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; read/write instructional documents and communicate with customers, peers, and management.
- Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, ratios; make change accurately.
- Reasoning ability: multi‑task while attending to customers and remaining flexible.
- Teamwork and independent initiative; manage escalated exchanges and create win‑win solutions.
This position involves constant movement, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Work is typically performed indoors but may involve outdoor tasks based on location.
