Store Manager In Training (SMIT) – a development-focused role designed to prepare you for a CVS Store Manager position.

Program DetailsThe SMIT program is a 16‑week self‑paced, collaborative training that blends virtual and hands‑on learning. You’ll work with a District Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, Training Store Manager, and your Store Manager coach to advance toward a full‑time store management role.
Key Skills- Communicate well verbally and in writing to support and lead your team.
- Perform customer care duties to provide high levels of service.
- Execute merchandising strategies to support store sales growth.
- Manage store inventory and assets to maintain profitability.
- Actively engage with your leader in Key Learning Experiences to support you on the path to promotion during the program.
- Support the store as a management team member and lead consistently with CVS values and policies.
- Engage colleagues in supporting the company’s purpose of “helping people on their path to better health.”
- Willingness to accept promotion roles in the market you work in and to transfer to other CVS Pharmacy stores within the designated market.
- Ability to work a schedule that may vary based on business needs.
- Selection for the SMIT position does not guarantee promotion into a Store Manager role.
- Promotion eligibility depends on performance, availability of openings, and other factors.
- High School diploma or GED (required).
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
- Retail management experience or experience as a CVS Supervisor.
- Ability to transfer within the designated market.
Daily hours: 45 hours per week.
Time TypeFull time.
Pay RangeTypical base hourly rate: $18.50 - $26.25. The actual offer will depend on experience, education, geography and other factors.
