What You’ll DoAre you a hands-on problem solver who loves working with machines that get the job done? We're looking for a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to keep our landscaping fleet running at full throttle. From John Deere tractors to zero-turn mowers and beyond, you'll be the go‑to expert keeping our crews moving and our projects on track.
- Diagnose and repair John Deere tractors with flex wing mower attachments used in large‑scale turf management.
- Service and maintain zero‑turn mowers, pickup trucks, equipment trailers, and our water truck to ensure job site readiness.
- Troubleshoot small engine equipment like trimmers, blowers, and chainsaws—making sure every piece runs like new.
- Operate equipment post‑repair to verify functionality and ensure safety standards are met.
- Weld or fabricate parts as needed to repair or reinforce equipment components.
- Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies; order replacements when stock is low.
- Assist with equipment transport logistics, including loading/unloading and securing machinery for travel.
- Train or mentor crew members on proper equipment use and basic maintenance.
- Stay current on manufacturer updates and service bulletins for equipment in the fleet.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on all mechanical and motorized landscaping tools and vehicles.
- Document repair history and work performed using accurate service logs.
- Collaborate with landscaping crew and leadership to schedule maintenance in a way that minimizes downtime.
- Ensure safety and compliance of all equipment in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Minimum 3 years of experience repairing and maintaining landscaping or construction equipment.
- Technical certification in diesel or heavy equipment mechanics is a plus.
- Proficiency in reading equipment manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and small engine systems.
- Welding and fabrication skills for custom repairs or reinforcements is a plus.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and best practices.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Team-oriented with good communication skills.

- Regularly lift and carry parts and tools weighing up to 50–75 lbs.; occasional lifts may exceed this, requiring team assistance or mechanical aids.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking on uneven outdoor surfaces, including gravel, grass, and mud.
- Frequent crouching, kneeling, and crawling under equipment or trailers to access components.
- Climbing onto and off of tractors, trailers, and large mowers; may involve ladders or step platforms.
- Reach overhead and at awkward angles to access engine compartments or mounted attachments.
- Use of hand and power tools requiring fine motor skills, grip strength, and steady hand‑eye coordination.
- Push or pull heavy equipment parts, trailers, or machinery components during repairs or repositioning.
