Overview

Are you a Clinical Psychologist looking for a new challenge? We are recruiting for a part-time Senior Clinical Psychologist to join our Community CAMHS teams in Melksham and BANES. You'll be providing a highly specialist service that is culturally appropriate and based on best clinical and professional practice to help understand, prevent and ameliorate psychological distress and disorder, improving the mental health and well-being of users of the learning disability service.

Responsibilities
  • Provide psychological assessment and intervention for children with moderate to severe and/or complex presentations.
  • Implement a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining provisional hypotheses.
  • Supervise and support psychological assessment, formulation and therapy provided by LD clinicians and other clinical members of the team who provide psychologically based care and treatment.
  • Provide ad hoc advice and guidance to colleagues within social care and GPs in planning and implementing care plans for patients with psychological care needs.
  • Travel independently between Trust sites and community visits; manage risk of exposure to aggressive or unpredictable behaviour from clients, carers or family members in distress in line with the local team’s lone worker policy, Trust risk policy and supervision guidance.
Qualifications
  • Doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling Psychology.
  • HCPC registration (required for applicants based outside the UK).
  • Experience working with learning disabilities and complex child presentations.
