Position Overview
Instructor for the Preparatory Program, responsible for delivering a 22‑hour weekly contact curriculum in English communication, writing and enhanced learning, as well as study‑skills and Microsoft Office instruction for intermediate and advanced levels.
Teaching Load & Work Schedule- 22 contact hours per week.
- 5 office hours outside lunch, 8 hours grading/preparation, 5 hours department work.
- Classes include 10 hours Communication Skills, 10 hours Writing Skills, 2 hours Enhanced Learning, plus optional Study Skills and Mathematics.
- Schedules may run from 8 am to late evenings, weekends, and occasional Saturdays.
A Master’s degree in EFL/ESL/TESOL/TEFL or related field is required. Other master’s degrees with a Cambridge CELTA, TEFL, or TESOL Core certification (≥120 hours and ≥6 supervised hours) are acceptable. Alternative options include a Cambridge DELTA combined with another master’s or two years university teaching experience.
Experience- Minimum 2 years teaching ESL/EFL at university level; high school experience acceptable.
- Flexibility to teach all program levels and study‑skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Interest in research, publishing, and standardized exams such as IELTS is valued.
- Experience teaching abroad, especially in the Middle East or Gulf, is an advantage.
- Leadership skills with ability to influence and motivate cross‑organizational constituencies.
- Planning, analytical, and sound decision‑making skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for partnership building.
- Subject‑matter expertise and research project management experience.
- Team‑building, responsibility, enthusiasm, and ability to work under pressure.
- Proficiency in native‑level English.
Annual evaluations based on classroom observations, professional development, service, and student evaluations.
