Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Static Inspector to oversee inspection activities related to static mechanical equipment such as pressure vessels, storage tanks, heat exchangers, boilers, and structural components. The role involves ensuring that all fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning activities comply with approved drawings, project specifications, and international codes and standards. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in static equipment inspection, quality assurance, and coordination with project stakeholders to ensure safe, reliable, and high-quality execution of mechanical works.
Roles and ResponsibilitiesPerform inspection of static equipment fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities at site and fabrication yards.
Inspect pressure vessels, storage tanks, heat exchangers, columns, and other static equipment for compliance with specifications.
Verify dimensional accuracy, alignment, orientation, and fit-up of static equipment during fabrication and installation stages.
Review and ensure compliance with approved drawings, datasheets, ITPs, procedures, and project specifications.
Witness hydrostatic, pneumatic, vacuum, and other pressure testing activities as per applicable codes and standards.
Verify welding activities, NDT requirements, and ensure compliance with approved WPS, PQR, and WPQ.
Inspect surface preparation, coating, insulation, and preservation of static equipment where applicable.
Review material certificates (MTCs), inspection reports, welding documentation, and QA/QC records for accuracy and completeness.
Ensure compliance with international standards such as ASME Section VIII, API 650/620, ASTM, and ISO requirements.
Identify non-conformities and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
Coordinate with QA/QC engineers, fabrication teams, subcontractors, and client representatives during inspections and audits.
Participate in mechanical completion activities, punch listing, pre-commissioning, and final acceptance inspections.
Maintain accurate inspection records, test reports, and quality documentation throughout project execution.
Ensure adherence to HSE policies, permit-to-work systems, and safety regulations at all times.
Support continuous improvement in quality control processes for static equipment fabrication and installation.
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum 5+ years of experience in static equipment inspection within oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery, power plant, or industrial construction projects.
Strong knowledge of static equipment such as pressure vessels, storage tanks, heat exchangers, and related components.
Familiarity with international codes and standards including ASME Section VIII, API 650, API 620, API 510, ASTM, and ISO standards.
Experience in reviewing fabrication drawings, GA drawings, datasheets, and inspection & test plans (ITPs).
Knowledge of welding processes, NDT methods, hydrotesting, and pressure testing procedures.
Strong understanding of QA/QC inspection techniques and documentation systems.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, engineering specifications, and code requirements.
Proficiency in MS Office and quality management/reporting tools.
