Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Mechanical Rotating Inspector to oversee inspection activities related to rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines, blowers, gearboxes, and other mechanical rotating machinery. The role involves ensuring equipment fabrication, installation, alignment, testing, and commissioning are carried out in compliance with approved specifications, project requirements, and international codes and standards. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in rotating equipment inspection, alignment checks, performance testing, and coordination with project teams to ensure reliable and safe operation of equipment.
Roles and Responsibilities- Perform inspection of rotating equipment during fabrication, installation, alignment, testing, and commissioning stages.
- Inspect pumps, compressors, turbines, blowers, gearboxes, motors, and other rotating machinery at site and vendor facilities.
- Verify alignment, leveling, coupling installation, and mechanical fit‑up of rotating equipment.
- Review equipment installation in accordance with approved drawings, vendor manuals, datasheets, and project specifications.
- Witness performance tests such as performance curves, vibration tests, run tests, and no‑load/load trials.
- Coordinate and witness alignment checks using dial indicators, laser alignment tools, and other precision instruments.
- Verify lubrication systems, seal systems, cooling systems, and auxiliary systems for proper installation and operation.
- Review QA/QC documentation including inspection reports, test certificates, vendor documentation, and calibration records.
- Ensure compliance with international standards such as API, ISO, ASME, and manufacturer‑specific requirements.
- Identify non‑conformities and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate with QA/QC engineers, vendors, construction teams, and client representatives during inspections and FAT/SAT activities.
- Participate in mechanical completion, pre‑commissioning, commissioning, and startup activities.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, test reports, and quality documentation throughout project execution.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, safety regulations, and permit‑to‑work systems at all times.
- Support troubleshooting activities related to rotating equipment installation and performance issues.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in rotating equipment inspection within oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery, power plant, or industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines, and gearboxes.
- Experience in reviewing vendor documents, GA drawings, alignment reports, and installation procedures.
- Knowledge of alignment techniques including laser alignment and dial gauge methods.
- Understanding of vibration analysis, performance testing, and mechanical run tests.
- Experience in FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test) activities.
- Strong understanding of QA/QC inspection procedures and documentation requirements.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, datasheets, and vendor manuals.
