Engineer/Draftsman who bridges the gap between technical engineering precision and high‑quality 3D visualization. In this role, they will create intelligent 3D Building Information Models (BIM) that serve as the single source of truth for project coordination, clash detection, and construction documentation.
Key Responsibilities- 3D BIM Modeling: Create, manage, and maintain detailed 3D BIM models using software such as Revit, AutoCAD, or Tekla
. Ensure the models are accurate, organized, and structured according to project LOD (Level of Development) requirements. - Engineering Support: Apply engineering principles to ensure models are structurally sound and system‑compatible. Perform basic calculations or verify dimensions for steel connections, ductwork routing, pipe sizing, as needed.
- Discipline Coordination: Collaborate with Architecture, Structural, and MEP disciplines to coordinate models and identify spatial conflicts.
- Clash Detection & Resolution: Use tools such as Navisworks or Solibri to run clash detection reports, analyze conflicts, and work with the team to resolve issues before construction.
- Documentation Generation: Extract accurate 2D construction documents (plans, sections, elevations, details) directly from the 3D BIM models. Ensure all drawings are fully annotated and dimensioned.
- Data Management: Ensure that object parameters and metadata in the BIM model are populated correctly for scheduling, cost estimation, and facility management purposes.
- Quality Assurance: Review models for compliance with company BIM execution plans (BEP), naming conventions, and industry standards.
- Site Support: Provide updated models or as‑built drawings based on site verification and field changes.
- Proficiency in BIM Software: Expert‑level knowledge of Autodesk Revit (or discipline‑specific tools such as Tekla Structures for steel,
Navisworks for coordination). - 3D Visualization: Strong ability to visualize complex assemblies in 3D space.
- Standards Knowledge: Understanding of LOD (Level of Development) standards, BIM Execution Plans, and COBie data requirements.
- General Drafting: Competence in AutoCAD for 2D detailing and referencing.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and codes.
- Basic understanding of a specific engineering discipline (e.g., structural loads, HVAC airflow, electrical circuits) to create functional models.
- Strong problem‑solving skills for resolving design clashes.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with engineers, architects, and clients.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture.
- Or a Diploma in Architectural/Technical Drafting with significant engineering exposure.
- 5 years of experience in BIM modeling and 3D drafting for the Bachelor’s Degree, or 10 years of experience for those holding a Diploma.
