Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Mechanical Welding Inspector to oversee and ensure the quality, safety, and compliance of welding activities across mechanical projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting welding procedures, materials, workmanship, and documentation to ensure adherence to project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations. The role requires strong technical expertise in welding inspection, quality assurance, and mechanical systems.
Roles & Responsibilities- Conduct visual and dimensional inspection of welding and fabrication activities.
- Verify welding procedures, welder qualifications, and material traceability in accordance with approved standards and project requirements.
- Ensure welding activities comply with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications.
- Review and monitor Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualification Records (WQR).
- Coordinate and witness Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities such as RT, UT, MT, and PT.
- Inspect fit-up, joint preparation, alignment, and welding consumables prior to welding operations.
- Identify welding defects and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented effectively.
- Prepare inspection reports, quality records, punch lists, and documentation for project completion.
- Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with quality assurance and safety requirements.
- Coordinate with project engineers, QA/QC teams, contractors, and clients regarding inspection activities and quality concerns.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and quality review meetings.
- Ensure calibration and proper usage of inspection tools and equipment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to welding quality and inspection processes.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 3–7 years of experience in welding inspection within mechanical, oil & gas, fabrication, construction, or industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of international welding codes and standards such as ASME, AWS, API, and ISO standards.
- Experience in interpreting welding drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, and fabrication documents.
- Knowledge of NDT methods and quality control procedures.
- Ability to prepare and maintain inspection and quality documentation.
