Job Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Welding Inspector to oversee welding and mechanical inspection activities across fabrication, construction, and installation projects. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring all welding operations comply with approved procedures, project specifications, quality standards, and international codes. The role requires strong technical expertise in welding inspection, quality assurance, and coordination with multidisciplinary project teams to ensure safe and high‑quality project execution.
Roles and Responsibilities- Conduct inspection of welding, fabrication, and mechanical installation activities at site and workshop.
- Verify welding procedures, welder qualifications, consumables, and material traceability prior to welding activities.
- Perform visual inspection of weld fit‑up, joint preparation, alignment, dimensional accuracy, and completed welds.
- Monitor welding activities to ensure compliance with approved WPS, PQR, ITP, drawings, and applicable codes/standards.
- Coordinate and witness Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT) activities including RT, UT, MT, and PT.
- Review welding maps, weld logs, NDT reports, and quality documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Identify non‑conformities, prepare inspection reports, and ensure corrective actions are properly implemented.
- Ensure fabrication and welding activities comply with ASME, AWS, API, ISO, and client specifications.
- Coordinate with QA/QC engineers, construction teams, subcontractors, and client representatives during inspections and audits.
- Monitor material handling, storage, and preservation of welding consumables and fabricated components.
- Participate in mechanical completion inspections, punch listing, and final quality documentation submission.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, test reports, and quality documentation throughout project execution.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, workplace safety standards, and company quality procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to welding quality and inspection processes.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 3–7 years of experience in welding inspection and mechanical QA/QC within oil & gas, construction, fabrication, petrochemical, or industrial projects.
- Certified Welding Inspector qualification such as CSWIP 3.1 / 3.2 or AWS-CWI preferred.
- Strong knowledge of welding processes including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, and SAW.
- Familiarity with international codes and standards such as ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, API, and ISO standards.
- Experience in reviewing WPS, PQR, WPQ, welding procedures, and NDT reports.
- Knowledge of NDT methods and acceptance criteria.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, isometrics, welding symbols, and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures, inspection techniques, and documentation systems.
