- Assistant Corrosion and Material Engineer
Wood is hiring an Assistant Corrosion and Material Engineer with experience in oil and gas, hydrocarbon refinery, and petrochemicals industries, having engineering design project experience.
Responsibilities- Develop new engineering deliverables and update existing ones in accordance with project requirements.
- Review, revise, and check all discipline deliverables to ensure compliance with company procedures, engineering standards, and approved checklists.
- Perform material selection for piping, pipelines, valves, equipment, and fittings based on service conditions, design criteria, and applicable industry and client standards.
- Prepare and update Material Selection Diagrams (MSDs), On-Stream Inspection (OSI) drawings, isometrics, and Corrosion Control Documents (CCDs).
- Analyze process fluid properties, corrosion mechanisms, and operating parameters to recommend suitable metallic or nonmetallic materials.
- Identify corrosion threats, evaluate corrosion rates, and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Prepare, review and comment on design packages including P&IDs, PMS, specialty items specifications, datasheets, isometrics, and vendor submittals (NMR/MR).
- Verify compliance of material requirements, corrosion allowances, coatings, and lining specifications with project and client standards.
- Prepare and review piping deliverables including material take-off (MTOs), tie-in index, and 3D model modeling.
- Prepare and review discipline-specific documents such as Piping Material Specifications (PMS), Wall Thickness (WT) calculations, Safety Instruction Sheets (SIS), Isometric Drawings (ISO), Piping Line Lists (PPL), and Facility Plot Plans (FPP).
- Support the selection and engineering of nonmetallic systems in accordance with relevant codes and service conditions.
- Contribute to project execution by ensuring timely review, approval, and submission of all assigned deliverables.
- Participate in interdisciplinary coordination meetings and design review sessions at 30%, 60%, 90%, and 100%/IFC stages.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in corrosion troubleshooting.
- Ability to produce high-quality deliverables with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication skills for interfacing with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, deliver on time, and support project schedules.
- Proactive attitude with willingness to learn, adapt, and enhance technical knowledge.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Material Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in material engineering, corrosion assessment, or piping/pipeline design within the oil & gas industry.
