The Microwave Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of microwave transmission and backhaul network projects within telecom environments. The role ensures the successful deployment of point-to-point and point-to-multipoint microwave links, IP/MPLS backhaul integration, and transmission network upgrades, while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, regulatory compliance, and timely delivery.

The role requires strong coordination across RF planning, transmission engineering, civil works, and field deployment teams, as well as effective management of vendors, subcontractors, and equipment suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of microwave transmission and backhaul network projects.
  • Define project scope, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and delivery milestones.
  • Manage deployment of microwave infrastructure including:
    • Point-to-point microwave links
    • Point-to-multipoint systems
    • Transmission network upgrades and capacity expansions
  • Coordinate closely with RF planning, transmission engineering, civil works, and field implementation teams.
  • Oversee site acquisition activities, technical site surveys, and line-of-sight (LOS) analysis.
  • Manage tower infrastructure works including installation, alignment, and commissioning of antennas and microwave equipment.
  • Ensure seamless integration of microwave backhaul with core and access network elements.
  • Monitor and control project risks, issues, dependencies, and performance metrics.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and equipment suppliers to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, including spectrum licensing and telecom authority approvals.
  • Track project progress and provide accurate status reports to internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Ensure delivery within agreed timelines, budget constraints, and quality standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in telecom project management, with strong focus on microwave transmission or backhaul networks.
  • Solid understanding of microwave technologies, transmission systems, and telecom network architecture.
  • Project management certification such as PMP or PRINCE2 is preferred.
