To prepare accurate, standardized, and production-ready engineering drawings and documentation for conveyor equipment, steel structures, mobile conveyors, stackers, and hoppers, ensuring alignment with manufacturing capabilities, company standards, and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities :- Prepare detailed 2D & 3D CAD drawings (AutoCAD / Solid Works)
- Develop shop drawings, GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and assembly drawings
- Model and detail:
- Belt conveyors and components (rollers, pulleys, shafts)
- Steel structures (frames, supports, platforms, walkways)
- Mobile conveyors and stackers
- Hoppers, chutes, and material handling systems
- Generate and maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Maintain drawing numbering system and revision control
- Verify input data (sketches, specifications, calculations) before drafting
- Coordinate with Design Engineer for design clarification
- Coordinate with Production to ensure manufacturability of steel and mechanical components
- Support Procurement by aligning BOM with materials (plates, sections, mechanical parts)
- Support QC by providing inspection and fabrication drawings
- Ensure compliance with drafting standards, GD&T basics, welding symbols, and fabrication practices
- Prepare plate developments and detailing for fabrication
- Update drawings based on shop/site feedback (as-built drawings)
- Identify discrepancies and report to Design Engineer
- Suggest improvements for fabrication efficiency, weight reduction, and cost optimization
- Conduct physical site visits to take accurate dimensions of existing structures and conveyor layouts before starting new drawings.
- Prepare nesting layouts for plate cutting to minimize material waste.
- Proficiency in managing file exports for CNC plasma or laser cutting machines. (As we are bringing our own plasma cutting machine)
Qualifications:
- Diploma / Technical Certificate in Mechanical Drafting or related field.
- 2–5 years of experience
- Experience in CAD software (AutoCAD, Solid Works)
- 2D & 3D CAD drafting
- Knowledge of GD&T basics
- Understanding of fits and tolerances
- Knowledge of welding symbols and fabrication detailing
- Familiarity with materials (ASTM A36, EN grades, structural sections)
