Senior Network Engineer

The Senior Network Engineer role supports these objectives by ensuring robust, secure, and scalable network infrastructure, enabling PMU to deliver high‑quality digital services and maintain operational excellence across its campus.

Job Purpose

To support, manage, and optimize PMU’s network infrastructure, ensuring reliable and secure network services across campus. The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of network systems to meet the university’s connectivity, security, and performance needs, enabling seamless communication and data flow for academic and administrative functions.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Complete network‑related tasks to support PMU's information systems and mission, addressing requirements as needed.
  • Maximize network performance by monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving network issues; scheduling upgrades; and collaborating with vendors for network optimization.
  • Manage and administer PMU's IP Telephony Call Manager Suite, including components such as Call Manager Publisher, Subscriber, Contact Center, Instant Messaging, Expressway E & C, Unified Contact Center, and Unity Connection.
  • Oversee the management and maintenance of data center network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery (DR) strategies for network infrastructure to maintain business continuity during outages or emergencies.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and attending industry events to meet the university’s technology goals.
  • Administer and secure library online services with SSL certificates, ensuring safe and reliable access for users.
  • Oversee local and cloud infrastructure for PMU, managing and maintaining a secure and efficient network environment.
  • Implement load balancing solutions for critical university applications to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Develop and initiate Requests for Quotations (RFQs) to fulfill various network‑related requirements.
  • Provide second‑level support for affiliated institutions, such as PMU’s sister companies, including PMPYD and Princess Jawhara Center.
  • Optimize network performance while supporting remote users, ensuring connectivity and productivity.
Qualifications & Experience (Required)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 7‑10 years of experience directly related to network engineering duties and responsibilities, with prior experience in a similar position highly preferred.
  • Cisco certification required CCIE, or CCDP is preferred.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in team‑based, collaborative settings.
  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently when necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent command of the English language; familiarity with technology‑infused academic environments is a plus.
