Overview

As the Data Scientist at Al-Qadsiah Club, you will be embedded within the Data, Technology, and Innovation team, and will play a key role in advancing the club’s football analytics. Supporting first‑team coaches, video analysts, performance and scouting staff, this role ensures high‑quality data‑driven insights to enhance decision‑making while helping to expand and lead the data team.

Key Responsibilities Data Collection & Processing
  • Extract, Transform, and Load data from event, tracking, and performance sources.
  • Ensure data quality and consistency for accurate analysis.
  • Support individual and team performance evaluation through effective data management.
  • Analyze trends to assist in tactical assessment and decision‑making.
Data Management & Infrastructure
  • Oversee data integration, processing, and storage across multiple sources.
  • Assist in managing and optimizing the internal data warehouse (GCP).
  • Develop automated data pipelines to streamline workflows (Python and SQL).
  • Work with software engineers to optimize database performance.
Dashboard Development
  • Maintain and improve the club’s analytics platform.
  • Integrate new data sources to enhance analytical insights.
  • Optimize the platform to meet the evolving needs of coaches, analysts, and scouts.
  • Ensure user‑friendly visuals for efficient data interpretation.
Advanced Analytics & Innovation
  • Develop predictive models and advanced statistical tools.
  • Implement machine learning and deep learning techniques.
  • Explore new data sources and methodologies.
Insight Translation
  • Simplify complex analytical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Communicate data‑driven insights to support daily football operations.
  • Bridge the gap between technical data analysis and strategic decision‑making.
  • Ensure insights are actionable and aligned with the club’s objectives.
Qualifications Essential
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering or Statistics).
  • Master’s Degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering or Statistics) or equivalent practical experience.
Desirable
  • PhD in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering or Statistics) or equivalent practical experience.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience Essential
  • Proven experience in data analysis, preferably within a football or sports context.
  • Familiarity with football data sources, including event, tracking, or performance data, is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, Tableau and Power BI
  • Ability to interpret complex data sets and derive actionable insights.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, machine learning and deep learning.
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities with a proactive and structured approach.
  • High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in data processing and analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Comfortable adapting to a new cultural and professional environment, with an openness to learning about Saudi football.
  • Full profieciency speaking English
Desirable
  • Proficiency in application development for football analytics.
  • Previous experience in Saudi Arabia or the Middle East
  • Multilingual skills, particularly Spanish and Arabic
