Job Summary
The Instrument Inspector (QM) is responsible for performing inspection, verification, and quality assurance of instrumentation and control systems at project sites, ensuring strict compliance with international codes, industry standards, and Saudi Aramco specifications. The role covers inspection of loop checking, wiring, continuity, FAT evaluation, and instrumentation systems associated with DCS, SCADA, RTU, and ESD systems to ensure high-quality execution and reliable operation.
Roles and ResponsibilitiesConduct inspection of instrumentation and control systems including loop checking, wiring continuity, color coding, termination, and start-up procedures.
Ensure compliance with applicable industry codes and standards such as ISA, IEEE, IEC, NEMA, NFPA 70/NEC, and UL 94.
Review and verify inspection documents, test reports, and quality records as per QM requirements (QM-02, QM-39).
Perform Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) evaluations for packaged unit instrumentation systems including DCS, SCADA, RTU, and ESD systems.
Conduct surveillance during construction, installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases to ensure conformance to project specifications.
Verify installation of Intrinsically Safe Systems and Electrical Systems for instrumentation per applicable international standards.
Identify non-conformances and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively.
Coordinate with contractors, engineering teams, and quality management to maintain project quality and resolve technical issues.
Ensure instrumentation activities adhere to safety, quality, and industry best practices throughout the project execution.
B.E/B.Tech in Instrumentation/Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 6 years relevant inspection experience, or 3-year Diploma with a minimum of 8 years relevant inspection experience.
Minimum 3 years documented experience in instrumentation and control systems inspection.
Familiarity with International Codes & Standards such as:
ISA RP12.6, ISA RP12.2.02, ISA TR12 series
ANSI MC96.1
IEEE 518, IEEE 1100
IEC 60529
NEMA ICS 6, NEMA 250, NEMA VE 1, NEMA VE 2
NFPA 70 / NEC
UL 94
Knowledge of Saudi Aramco Specifications & Standards.
Saudi Aramco-approved inspector or must have passed Saudi Aramco CBT Exam & Interview.
Familiar with applicable Industry Standards and Specifications relevant to instrumentation works.
