OverviewAs the Performance Psychologist at Al-Qadsiah Club, you will lead the design, delivery, and integration of psychological services across the Women’s First Team. You will create and implement a world-class psychology strategy that enhances performance, resilience, wellbeing, and long‑term athlete development, ensuring psychology is fully embedded within the daily training and competition environment.
Key Responsibilities Strategy and Leadership- Develop and lead the psychology strategy and service provision across the Women’s First Team programme
- Design and implement a tiered psychology support model to meet the needs of all players
- Lead psychological screening and profiling processes to identify strengths, needs, and risks
- Embed psychological best practice into the club’s culture, values, and athlete experience
- Provide applied sport psychology support to optimise performance in training and competition
- Develop psychologically informed training environments that replicate competitive demands
- Collaborate with coaching staff to integrate psychological principles into technical and tactical preparation
- Support team dynamics, communication, leadership development, and group cohesion
- Deliver individual and team interventions that enhance confidence, focus, resilience, and performance
- Contribute to integrated athlete care through collaboration with medical, performance, and wellbeing staff
- Provide guidance on psychological issues within professional scope of practice
- Coordinate referrals to accredited clinical psychology providers when appropriate
- Implement proactive screening, early intervention, and support pathways
- Promote wellbeing, resilience, identity development, and life beyond sport
- Deliver workshops, group sessions, and educational resources on key psychological skills
- Provide mentoring and CPD opportunities for coaches and support staff
- Promote psychologically informed practice throughout the football programme
- Maintain a strong connection to current research, innovation, and best practice in sport psychology
- Work closely with coaching, medical, and performance departments to support athlete development
- Contribute to multidisciplinary decision‑making processes
- Support the integration of psychology into player development and performance planning
- Provide regular updates and recommendations to key stakeholders
Desirable:
- PhD in Sport & Exercise Psychology or a related discipline
- Additional qualifications in mental health, counselling, or athlete wellbeing
- Experience working within women’s professional football or elite team sports
Essential:
- Postgraduate qualification (Master’s or equivalent) in Sport & Exercise Psychology
- Registered, or eligible for registration, with the HCPC or equivalent governing body
- Proven experience delivering sport psychology services in elite or high‑performance sport environments
- Experience developing and implementing psychology strategies and frameworks
- Evidence of effective multidisciplinary working
- Strong understanding of performance psychology, resilience, and mental skills development
- Knowledge of clinical psychology processes and referral pathways
- Excellent communication, relationship‑building, and influencing skills
- Strong organisational skills and ability to evaluate service impact
- Commitment to athlete welfare and holistic development
Desirable:
- Experience working with youth and developmental athletes as well as elite performers
- Experience working within culturally diverse or international sporting environments
- Experience in high‑pressure performance environments
- Strong interest in innovation, research, and evidence‑based practice
