# SEN Practitioner / Specialist Support Worker

Supporting Children and Young People with SEMH, Autism, Behavioural and Trauma-Related Needs

We are looking for a compassionate, patient and experienced SEN professional to support children and young people who may present with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, autism, challenging behaviour and trauma-related difficulties .

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who understands that behaviour is often a form of communication and who can provide children with the safety, consistency, boundaries and positive relationships they need to thrive.

The Role

You will support children who may experience:

Autism and neurodiversity
SEMH needs and emotional dysregulation
Behavioural difficulties and distressed behaviour
Trauma and adverse childhood experiences
Anxiety, low self-esteem and difficulties with trust
Communication and social interaction challenges
Difficulties with emotional regulation and transitions

We Are Looking For Someone Who

Is caring, calm, patient and emotionally resilient
Has experience working with children with additional needs
Understands autism, SEMH and trauma-informed approaches
Can manage challenging situations calmly and safely
Builds positive, trusting relationships with children
Uses positive behaviour support rather than punitive approaches
Provides clear, consistent boundaries and routines
Can work effectively with families, schools and other professionals
Believes every child has potential and deserves to feel valued, understood and successful

What You Will Provide

You will create a safe, nurturing and structured environment where children can develop confidence, communication, emotional regulation, independence and positive relationships.

You will help children to understand their emotions, recognise triggers, develop coping strategies and experience success through individualised, child-centred support .
