An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Engineer to join the Motorsport & Advanced Engineering department.
AboutThe Role
The motor sport and advanced engineering team have project workload that requires an experienced design engineer with a strong skillset of mechanical design, ideally in the context of electrification. The projects are high performance in nature, with a focus on lightweight and powerful systems across motor sport, defence and other applications.
What you will doAs a member of the design and analysis engineering team your duties will include:
- Responsible for design across mechanical, electrical and thermal projects
- Lead engineering design principles across multiple disciplines
- Line management of engineers, with responsibility for output and professional development
- Represent Fortescue Zero in front of customers and suppliers
- Effective communication with other engineering teams
- Continuously improve engineering and business systems and processes
- Create Design Verification Plans
- Interpret regulations and standards, then develop plans to demonstrate conformity
- Project planning of resource and tasks to meet requirements
Problem solving and fault rectification
- Conducting design reviews and drawing checking
- Design for performance, efficiency and total cost optimisation
- Occasional event or test support
- Responsibility for the health and safety of those working on a project
- Develop supply chain
- Must have high quality mechanical design experience (>5 years) in high performance applications such as motor sport, defence, aerospace.
- Significant exposure to HV systems, energy storage and low volume applications is highly desirable
- Composites and structural design with FEA experience is advantageous.
- Must be a proficient CAD (Siemens NX preferred) and PLM (Siemens Teamcenter preferred) user.
- Demonstrated leadership potential alongside effective communication skills
- Must be able to achieve and maintain Base Line Security Clearance (BPSS) for this role.
