We operate a 12-month (Summer 2027 - Summer 2028) student placement programme within the Vehicle Performance group. This is an exciting opportunity where you will work with highly skilled and experienced engineering professionals and graduates who you can learn and develop with - the more questions you ask the more you will gain from your experience. It is important to know that many of our industrial placements have been successful in obtaining graduate roles on completion of their degree.
To be eligible for an industrial placement within our Formula E Vehicle Performance group you should be working towards a STEM degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Motorsport Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics or similar. Basic experience using high level programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, JavaScript, C# and/or VBA will be required. Experience with data analysis, data visualisation, simulation tools or software application development would be advantageous.
Whatyou will do Responsibilities
- Development of in-house software tools to optimise race strategy & energy management in real-time environments using timing and car data.
- Analysis of car, simulation and timing data to inform strategic decision making.
- Contribution to pre and post event analysis of race strategy and competitor performance.
- Ensure that software is robust for use in production environments with a very high attention to detail.
- Use source control and collaboration tools to maintain code whilst exercising modern best practices.
- Maintenance and improvement of data pipelines to make processes and analysis more automatic.
- Participation in the Ops Room during race weekends to support the team at the track. This may occasionally require unsociable working hours.
