On-site in Kilgore, TX. This role supports Camfil’s largest manufacturing plant worldwide and reports to the Director of Manufacturing Accounting. Camfil is a global leader in air filtration and clean air solutions.
OverviewThe Plant Controller supports the plant with financial reporting, financial analysis, and guidance on shop floor production related accounting. The position requires a proactive, analytical thinker who can partner with senior management and plant personnel to drive accurate results and continuous improvement.
Essential duties and responsibilities- Preparation of monthly financial statements, maintaining journal entries and posting to the general ledger. Coordinate the monthly close process within 3 days of month end.
- Plan and coordinate plant budget activities in alignment with corporate policies and practices.
- Understand key business drivers and how they impact budgets and forecasts; ensure budgets are accurate, comprehensive, timely, and tied to detailed sales forecasts.
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts within 5 days of month-end; review reserves for reasonableness.
- Deliver monthly detailed analyses on plant performance, with commentary and presentation materials on sales analysis, variances, and expenses.
- Provide detailed financial reports and analysis to local management; work with the plant manager to interpret trends and financial results affecting the plant.
- Support the plant manager with insights to enable a more profitable facility; develop variance reports to drive process improvements and efficiency; conduct variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior periods.
- Continuously monitor plant activity with a daily dashboard focusing on bookings, sales, and inventory; perform variance analysis.
- Respond to ad-hoc analyses for the plant manager and management team; anticipate variances based on current trends and production; propose alternative strategies as needed.
- Review and determine root causes for all line items in the trial balance.
- Identify manufacturing cost trends impacting financial results; prepare data for annual standard cost roll up.
- Ensure strong internal controls for all business functions.
- Coordinate and participate in inventory control initiatives to ensure accurate reporting.
- Collaborate with Management Team to identify, report, and analyze operational KPIs that drive financial results; promote consistent KPI measurement and cross-location sharing of best practices.
- Oversee development of capital expenditures and analyze capital spending projects; monitor asset capitalizations and annual asset disposals.
- Oversee and manage yearly cost rolls with focus on standard costs versus actual production costs.
- Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency; develop controls to ensure accuracy of reported information.
- Lead periodic financial training with production management to ensure compliance with financial policies and identify improvement opportunities.
- Prepare data, reports, and file yearly property tax returns.
- May travel to other Camfil locations up to 5%.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
- 5-10 years of progressive leadership experience in Finance, Accounting, or financial data analytics and reporting.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, management accounting, corporate finance, and related analytical concepts.
- Proven ability to build analytics and models identifying key drivers.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office and ERP systems; strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
- Creative problem-solving skills; ability to engage with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, capable of thriving in a growing, evolving organization.
Work is performed in office, warehouse, and plant environments. PPE may be required in certain areas. Must be able to access and navigate all facility departments.
