Job Description

The Paramedic will utilize their knowledge and proficiency of evidenced‑based medical practice and Intl.

SOS protocols to manage unexpected and emergent situations and treat a variety of injuries and illnesses in a prompt and professional manner. The Paramedic will assume responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating direct and indirect medical care to patients in emergent situations. They will competently function as a member of the team to provide patient‑centred medical care in the pre‑hospital setting.

Responsibilities
  • Provide 24/7 365 emergent EMS response on the site.
  • Provide paramedicine pre‑hospital support to patients within or outside the site and during transfer to local higher levels of care.
  • Handle ambulance operations, EMS response and support of the medical team within the clinic.
  • Assist medical providers with procedures and treatments as allowed within licensed scope of work.
  • Assess and document patients’ vital signs, chief complaint, medical history, and prescribed medications.
  • Report all changes in patient’s conditions to the medical provider.
  • Proactively and independently administer basic paramedic level care within standing orders and SOPs without exceeding licensed scope.
  • Assist patients with basic care and activities of daily living as needed.
  • Provide support and education to help patients make responsible health decisions.
  • Maintain Area of Responsibility (AOR) supply inventory, checking stock levels and anticipating needed supplies.
  • Restock EMS units as supplies are received and assist other clinic operators in restocking.
  • Cross‑train to work within clinics, emergency rooms, and inpatient units.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Knowledge
  • Assess and treat adult and pediatric patients in a pre‑hospital setting.
  • Perform ALS interventions in accordance with protocols.
  • Administer medication in adult and pediatric patients per protocols.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient IT skills including use of electronic medical record systems.
