Carpenter Apprentice – Killeen ISD
Summary
Assists carpenter in constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard.
Job Title: Carpenter Apprentice
Reports To: Carpenter
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
- Gathers tools and supplies to be used at work site.
- Maintains tools and equipment and keeps supplies and parts in order.
- Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment. Performs other routine duties.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Lead Carpenter, Carpenters, or Plant Services Supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
- Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED. Experience in carpentry service preferred. - Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. - Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. - Reasoning Ability
Ability to learn carpentry technical information. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. - Certificates
Possess current driver’s license.
Physical Demands
The employee is frequently required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. Occasionally lift up to 100 pounds. Requires good vision (close vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus).
Work Environment
Exposed to outside weather conditions, wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, vibration. Noise level usually moderate.
