Project Genesis, Inc. seeks Full-Time Special Education / Accessible Education Teachers / Mentors to work 1:1 with our students in community settings. This role will provide individualized educational instruction and support to students with various disabilities in the NE Quiet Corner of CT to include the Killingly areas.

To qualify as a Student Success Coach / Special Education Mentor, you must have a high school diploma or the equivalent, reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and proof of auto insurance. The ability to speak both English and Spanish is a plus.

Hours:

Mondays-Fridays 1st shift hours/ school schedule

Requirements
  • At least 1 year of work-related experience in the human services or education field. Special education experience is preferred.
  • An understanding of the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and related issues.
  • A clean driving record for at least 3 years with the ability to obtain a Public Passenger Endorsement “A” from the DMV upon hire.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random 10 panel drug testing
  • Ability to travel within a 30-mile radius.
Responsibilities

In your role as a Learning Mentor with our Special Education Support Services Program, you will work one-on-one with teens transitioning from high school to their adult lives. Some of your responsibilities as a team member that assesses and supports these students will include using direct instruction and real-world activities to aid student progress. You will also apply behavior management strategies and guide students in hygiene, life, and job skills.

  • Track student progress and maintain detailed Individualized Education Program (IEP) portfolios.
  • Stay up to date on disability-related education strategies.
  • Help students complete basic academics.
  • Teach job skills and career exploration.
  • Teach independent living and social skills.

Base pay range: $19.00/hr - $21.00/hr
