Police Officer

* This process is open for those who have passed the Law Enforcement Council (LEC) Police Officer Written Exam
* The Killingly Police Department announces a competitive selection process for the position of police officer.

Non-certified officers must fill out an application at  applications must be complete and meet all eligibility requirements at the time of application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Salary: $69,000 (during Academy) - $74,500 (after 1 year completion)
Longevity payment after 5 years

Uniforms provided at hire Vacation and sick hours accrued each month

Personal Time Off - 40 hours per year

Take-home vehicle

Retirement - 457 defined contribution plan, the Town contributes up to 6%
Eligibility Requirements:

A minimum of 21 years of age.

You must be a Citizen of the United States.

You must be a high school graduate or possess a GEDYou must possess a valid driver’s license.

You must pass a physical agility test.

You must have a written examination score of 70% or higher to be considered.

You must be of good character and high moral standards.

You must have the ability to follow oral and written instructions, to read and write proficiently in the English language. Candidates must be able to write clear and concise reports and have good people skills.

You are not eligible for employment with the Killingly Police Department if:

You have a criminal record.

You have been dishonorably discharged from any military service.

You have committed any act which would constitute perjury or a false statement.

Candidates may be subjected to a thorough background investigation, drug screening, medical examination, oral testing and interviews, psychological and polygraph testing as well as scrutiny of all application information.
