Position Overview
Eversource Energy is the largest energy delivery company in New England, supporting 4.4 million customers in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. This fully qualified Line Mechanic position requires at least one year of experience and a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). The role involves the construction, operation and maintenance of the electric system, including overhead and underground power lines and auxiliary equipment.
The selected candidate must be able to climb poles, direct the work of others when assigned, and work aloft on electric utility poles or on ground and pad‑mounted structures. Availability within one hour of the reporting location during periods of trouble call assignment is required.
The individual will perform work involved in the construction, operation, and maintenance of the electric system. Responsibilities include installation, repair and maintenance of overhead and underground electrical power lines, auxiliary equipment, and working aloft on electric utility poles or on ground and pad‑mounted structures. Must climb poles skillfully with Lineman’s climbers and direct the work of others when assigned. Requires the ability to climb poles, direct the work of others when assigned, and be physically able to perform the “essential duties” of the Line Mechanic position.
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a satisfactory clean driving record.
- Physically able to perform the essential duties of the Line Mechanic position.
- Effective interaction, communication, and direction of the work of other co‑workers.
- Availability to perform overtime and emergency work as required and live within one hour of the reporting location.
Responding to emergency situations is part of every employee’s role. If employed, you will be given an Emergency Restoration assignment, meaning you may be called to assist during an emergency outside of your normal responsibilities, work hours and location. Barge unit employees under the TEAL contract will be given first consideration. Candidates must pass the written assessment and the physical agility assessment.
