Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lab Office Coordinator within the Main Office (Biochemistry / Haematology), Area Laboratories based at Crosshouse Hospital.

Hours

36 hours per week: hrs Monday, Wednesday; hrs Tuesday, Thursday, Friday

What You Will Do
  • Coordinate the workload in the Laboratory Office to ensure all duties are appropriately covered and the service operates efficiently.
  • Monitor the entry of laboratory test requests to ensure accuracy and adherence to departmental standards.
  • Under the direction of the Laboratory Office Supervisor, support the training and induction of new Clerical staff.
  • Input specimen requests using a VDU and carry out associated clerical, reception, and routine tasks as required within the Area Laboratory.
Training & Qualifications

Knowledge, training and/or experience required for this post:

  • Good working knowledge of medical terminology, supporting accurate communication within laboratory environment
  • Advanced keyboard and typing skills, ensuring fast, efficient, and accurate data entry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Strong understanding of Data Protection, Confidentiality, and Privacy policies, with the ability to apply these consistently in daily practice
Skills Required
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and service users.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory position is desirable.
  • Strong organisational abilities, with proven experience in prioritising tasks and managing time efficiently to meet deadlines
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Trusted to use discretion and sound judgement when handling sensitive information and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality at all times
