Site Based role – Central & Southern Scotland Projects located across the East Coast, Central Belt, Borders, Glasgow, Ayrshire & Dumfries and Galloway. Daily travel to site is required and you must be able to commute. Salary up to £62,425 with a strong benefits package, excellent overtime opportunities available (further details below) Full Time / Perm role based on a basic 37hr week.

We're looking for an experienced Site Manager (Electrical) to join our Transmission business and support the safe and successful delivery of critical substation construction projects across Central and Southern Scotland. This is an excellent opportunity for a Site Manager with a strong background in electrical substation construction, installation, commissioning or maintenance, who enjoys leading contractors, solving technical challenges and delivering high-quality work safely and efficiently.
Working alongside Construction Managers, Project Managers, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors and HSQE professionals, you'll be at the forefront of project delivery, taking ownership of site activities and ensuring works are completed safely, to specification, on programme and within budget.
As Site Manager, you'll act as Scottish Power's primary representative on site, overseeing contractor performance and ensuring the successful delivery of transmission projects ranging from substation extensions and refurbishments through to major new-build developments.
- Managing daily site activities across multiple construction work fronts
- Ensuring contractor compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements
- Monitoring project progress against agreed plans and delivery milestones
- Providing technical oversight and site leadership throughout construction and commissioning activities
- Reviewing construction methodologies and ensuring alignment with engineering designs and specifications
- Managing work packages, site records, inspections and quality documentation
- Supporting the commercial management of works, including monitoring time, cost and productivity
- Building strong relationships with contractors and stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes
You will provide technical oversight across a range of transmission substation works, supporting the safe installation, testing and commissioning of high‑voltage plant, protection and control equipment, cable systems and associated electrical infrastructure.
What you'll bringWe're particularly keen to hear from candidates with hands‑on substation experience who understand the challenges of working within live electrical environments and delivering complex electrical infrastructure projects.
Essential Experience- Electrical transmission or distribution substations
- High‑voltage construction, maintenance or commissioning projects
- Managing contractors and construction activities on complex electrical infrastructure projects
- Working within live substation environments under Electrical Safety Rules
- Delivering works associated with primary plant, protection and control systems and associated infrastructure
- Interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and construction specifications
- Managing site safety and promoting a strong safety culture
- Coordinating multiple stakeholders to achieve project delivery objectives
- Previous Site Manager experience within the power, utilities or electrical infrastructure sector
- Knowledge of transmission network construction practices
- Experience operating within NEC contracts
- SMSTS qualification
- Full First Aid certification
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office
- Full UK driving licence
