An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as Oral and Maxillofacial Consultant Team within NHS Ayrshire & Arran. This is a full time, 10 PA post, and is being recruited to on a permanent basis. Part time will be considered.
The successful applicant for this post will join a team of three experienced and established Consultants.
NHS Ayrshire & Arran has two large District General Hospitals;
University Hospital Crosshouse and University Hospital Ayr. The Oral and Maxillofacial Department forms part of the Head & Neck Directorate, along with ENT, Orthodontics (complex IOTN and Orthognathic cases), Maxillofacial Prosthetics Laboratory and Restorative Dentistry services (oral cancer rehabilitation, hypodontia and trauma).
Oral and Maxillofacial services are provided to the Ayrshire & Arran catchment population of 388,000 citizens.
The main base for this post is University Hospital Crosshouse where Oral and Maxillofacial in-patient and day-case services are located. Outpatient Clinics are mainly provided at University Hospital Crosshouse with some at University Hospital Ayr. The post holder will participate on the consultant on call rota (currently1:4 with prospective cover). On call duties are supported by a middle grade tier. Participation in the Regional on call rota (currently 1:8) is also required.

- Participation in the Regional on-call rota (currently 1:8).
- Provide Oral and Maxillofacial services as part of the Head & Neck Directorate, in-patient, day-case and outpatient services.
- Full GMC Registration with current Licence to Practice is essential.
- Intercollegiate Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in OMFS or equivalent is desirable.
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or evidence of Higher Speciality Training leading to CCT, or be within 6 months of confirmed entry to the Specialist Register from the date of interview.
- Effective team player with a broad range of experience in OMFS and ability to work closely with multidisciplinary team colleagues.
- Willingness to work flexibly within the evolving needs of the service.
