About the RoleThe Infection Control Nurse will be a core member of the Infection Prevention & Control Team (IPCT), reporting directly to the Infection Control Nurse Team Lead. The role involves caring and collaborating with staff to prevent and control infections, supported by audit and education.
Location: Lister Street, University Hospital Crosshouse
Type: Permanent
Hours: 36 hours per week (full‑time; part‑time will be prorated.)
Key Responsibilities- Attend infection control meetings and work as part of the IPCT.
- Plan and conduct audits on infection control practices.
- Analyse audit results, plan action, and write reports.
- Provide education and training to staff, including preparing and delivering presentations.
- Lead and monitor infection prevention initiatives across the hospital.
- Registered Nurse, first level, with relevant current clinical experience.
- Evidence of formal post‑registration education, training and development.
- Commitment to undertake an appropriate Infection Control Qualification (diploma, degree or master’s level).
- Practical experience of reporting audits and delivering education and training.
- Comprehensive knowledge of NHS Scotland HAI agenda, national infection control guidelines and policies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong IT skills; competent in Microsoft Office and electronic data entry.
- UK driving licence and own vehicle essential.
