Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Charge Nurse Anaesthetics within Main Theatres, University Hospital Crosshourse. This post is offered on a permanent basis.

Hours

36.00 hours per week.

From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full‑time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part‑time staff) without loss of earnings.

What you will do

You will provide guidance, support and clinical supervision to all staff within the area, maintaining an effective learning environment for staff and students.

This role will be in collaboration with the Anaesthetics department and involve participation in the Division of Anaesthesia business meetings, providing essential feedback regarding equipment, staffing and education in relation to anaesthetic nursing practice.

There will be an administrative aspect to the post, and you will oversee mandatory training and practice education, also assisting Registered Nursing staff with NMC Revalidation requirements. In collaboration with the other Senior Charge Nurses, you will coordinate the management of sickness/absence within the department.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required for this post

You will need to be focused, highly motivated, and have experience of working collaboratively with different multidisciplinary teams to facilitate and co‑ordinate care to achieve maximum patient safety. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills together with the ability to support the clinical teams in both emergency and elective situations. You will provide positive leadership in anaesthetic nursing, managing all available resources with substantial experience in Anaesthetic Nursing.

You will be well organised, flexible and able to manage the demands of competing priorities in a busy clinical environment.

You will have evidence of relevant professional development and education at or aiming towards first degree level.
