36 hours per week. From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

A UK driving licence is essential for this role.

As a Senior Infection Control Nurse in NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s multidisciplinary Infection Prevention & Control Team (IPCT), you will play a key leadership role in driving infection prevention strategies, supporting service improvement, and ensuring compliance with national standards. You will work collaboratively across organisational boundaries, influence practice, lead change, and contribute to the development of forward‑thinking, evidence‑based IPC initiatives. You will be based at Lister Street, University Hospital Crosshouse, working closely with colleagues across Ayrshire and Arran.

• Educated to degree level
• Post‑graduate qualification in infection prevention and control
• Educated to or operating at masters level
• Extensive senior‑level experience in Infection Prevention and Control, with strong knowledge of the NHS Scotland HAI agenda and collaboration with national agencies
• Proven leadership ability, including working independently, leading change, and developing capability within multidisciplinary teams
• Skilled in clinical audit, benchmarking, quality improvement, and the identification and mitigation of clinical risks
• Demonstrated track record in delivering service improvement within complex environments
• Car driver with own transport is essential

To work in the United Kingdom, a relevant permission to work in the country is required. This permission is granted by the UK Visa and Immigration Service. NHS Ayrshire & Arran may be able to offer visa sponsorship for certain roles, provided the post meets the minimum salary threshold and other required criteria.
