An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research & Development Research Nurse based at University Hospital Crosshouse. This post is offered on a fixed-term basis for 18 months.
Hours21.6 hours per week, Monday-Friday.
From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.
UK Driving LicenceA UK driving licence is essential for this role.
What You Will DoThe post holder will support the safe and effective delivery of commercial and non-commercial research studies across NHS Ayrshire & Arran.
The role will include identifying, screening and recruiting participants; supporting informed consent processes where delegated; coordinating study visits; undertaking clinical assessments and participant monitoring; supporting sample collection and processing; maintaining accurate study documentation; supporting data collection and query resolution; reporting adverse events and serious adverse events; and supporting sponsor monitoring visits, audits and inspections.
The post will contribute to NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s expanding research portfolio, including commercial and non-commercial studies.
Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required For This PostApplicants must be a First Level Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and relevant clinical experience. Knowledge of research principles, informed consent, confidentiality, randomisation, ethical issues and Good Clinical Practice is desirable. The successful candidate will have excellent communication, organisational, clinical, IT and team-working skills, and the ability to work across NHS Ayrshire & Arran sites. Research experience is desirable, but support and training will be provided for the right candidate.
