Job Description

We are recruiting two qualified Social Workers to join our Justice locality teams in Kilmarnock. These posts provide an opportunity to develop your practice within a supportive team committed to delivering high quality statutory justice social work services.

As part of ongoing service development, we have created additional capacity within our locality teams to support the delivery of effective community sentences. We are looking for experienced and motivated practitioners who are committed to person centred practice and achieving positive outcomes for individuals involved in the justice system.

About the Role

You will work with individuals subject to a range of statutory interventions, including community sentences and post release supervision. The role involves building constructive and trusting relationships while undertaking assessment, intervention and risk management work in line with national standards for Justice Social Work.

You will assess risk and need, analyse information from a range of sources and prepare high quality reports for Courts and the Parole Board. You will develop person centred plans that build on individual strengths and support rehabilitation, reintegration and reduced risk of reoffending.

Practice within the service is informed by trauma-informed approaches and evidence based interventions, ensuring individuals are supported to make sustainable positive changes while meeting statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess risk and need in line with national standards and apply structured professional judgement
  • Prepare high‑quality reports for Courts and the Parole Board
  • Develop, deliver and review person‑centred intervention plans
  • Manage statutory casework, supporting compliance with community sentences and effective risk management
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies and maintain accurate, timely case records

About You

You are a qualified Social Worker with enthusiasm for justice social work and a strong grasp of key legislation, standards, and risk assessment approaches. You build effective relationships, produce high‑quality assessments and reports, and bring a trauma‑informed, strengths‑based approach to your practice. Organised, resilient, and professional, you thrive in a dynamic environment and are motivated to make a positive impact.

Our Team

Justice Services in East Ayrshire are committed to supporting individuals to make positive changes in their lives while promoting public protection and community wellbeing. Our locality teams work collaboratively to deliver services that support rehabilitation, reintegration and reduced offending.
