About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Architect with expertise in heritage conservation and adaptive reuse to join their prestigious practice in Kimberley. You will be instrumental in preserving and revitalizing historical structures, transforming them into functional and contemporary spaces while respecting their cultural significance. This role requires a deep understanding of heritage guidelines, conservation techniques, and sensitive intervention strategies for unique buildings across the Northern Cape.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the architectural design and planning for heritage conservation and adaptive reuse projects.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of historic buildings, documenting their condition and significance.
  • Develop conservation strategies and design proposals that comply with heritage regulations and guidelines in Kimberley.
  • Oversee the implementation of restoration and adaptive reuse works, ensuring sensitive and high-quality execution.
  • Liaise with heritage authorities, clients, and specialist consultants throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare detailed reports, specifications, and technical documentation for heritage projects.
Requirements
  • Professional Architect qualification with a minimum of 8 years of experience, with significant specialization in heritage conservation.
  • Demonstrated experience in the adaptive reuse of historical buildings and sensitive restoration projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of heritage assessment methodologies, conservation principles, and relevant legislation.
  • Proficiency in architectural design software and experience with conservation documentation.
  • Strong understanding of traditional building materials and construction techniques.
