About the Role
Our client is seeking a practical and hands-on Borehole Drilling Engineer to join their team in Kimberley . This role is fundamental to developing sustainable water sources for agricultural, industrial, and municipal needs across the Northern Cape region. You will be responsible for the planning, execution, and supervision of drilling operations, ensuring the successful installation of boreholes that meet stringent quality and yield requirements.
This is a field-based position requiring a strong understanding of hydrogeology and drilling technologies, working in diverse geological conditions specific to the Northern Cape .
- Plan and manage borehole drilling operations, including site selection, drilling methods, and equipment deployment.
- Supervise drilling crews, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational efficiency.
- Conduct hydrogeological assessments to determine optimal drilling locations and expected water yields.
- Oversee the installation of borehole casings, screens, and pumps, ensuring proper development and testing.
- Maintain detailed records of drilling operations, geological formations encountered, and water quality data.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to drilling equipment and borehole performance.
- National Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, or Hydrogeology.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in borehole drilling and groundwater resource development.
- Practical knowledge of various drilling techniques (rotary, percussion) and associated equipment.
- Understanding of hydrogeology, groundwater flow, and water quality assessment.
- Experience with pump testing and borehole yield estimation.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills for effective team supervision.
