About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Engineer specializing in Materials Science to join their innovative R&D team in Kimberley . This role is key to developing and characterizing novel materials with advanced properties for diverse applications. You will lead projects from concept to prototype, utilizing your expertise in material synthesis, processing, and testing. Working in a dynamic and collaborative environment, you will contribute to the advancement of material technologies, solve complex engineering challenges, and mentor junior researchers.

- Lead the design, synthesis, and characterization of novel materials, including polymers, composites, or nanomaterials.
- Develop and optimize material processing techniques to achieve desired performance characteristics.
- Conduct comprehensive material testing and analysis to evaluate mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties.
- Troubleshoot material-related issues and develop innovative solutions to overcome technical challenges.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, research publications, and patent disclosures.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of scientific excellence.
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials research and development.
- Proven expertise in material synthesis, characterization techniques (e.g., SEM, TEM, XRD, spectroscopy), and mechanical testing.
- Experience with specific material classes such as polymers , ceramics, composites, or nanomaterials.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to lead research initiatives.
