RN Scrub Nurse Northern Cape

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced RN Scrub Nurse to provide safe, effective, and compassionate perioperative nursing care within a day theatre environment. The successful candidate will maintain sterile technique, support surgeons intra-operatively, and contribute to optimal patient outcomes in line with established clinical standards.

• Prepare theatre, instruments, and equipment according to procedure requirements.
• Maintain strict aseptic and infection control standards throughout all procedures.
• Scrub for various surgical disciplines, including general, orthopaedic, ophthalmic, ENT, gynaecological, and minor procedures.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and ensure a smooth intra-operative workflow.
• Conduct instrument counts and ensure accurate documentation.
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping.
• Collaborate with the circulating nurse and theatre team to ensure safe patient care.
• Ensure proper handling, cleaning, and dispatching of instruments post-procedure.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with relevant HPCSA/SANC regulations and policies.
• Participate in stock control, ordering, and theatre readiness.
• Support recovery room processes when required.

• Registered Nurse (SANC) with current registration.
• Minimum 2 years’ theatre scrub experience; private hospital experience is advantageous.
• Proven competency in multiple surgical disciplines.
• Knowledge of infection prevention, sterile technique, and theatre protocols.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced day theatre environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Clinical judgement and decision‑making ability.
• Attention to detail and patient-centred care approach.
• Professional conduct and ethical practice.
• Adaptability, problem‑solving ability, and strong organisational skills.
• Ability to anticipate surgical needs.
• Availability to work Monday to Friday day theatre hours, with occasional extended hours depending on theatre lists.
