The Tuscarora Intermediate Unit invites applications for Educational Consultant for the PaTTAN Autism Initiative for the Southeastern Region.

The Educational Consultant for the Pattan Autism Initiative (PAI) is directly responsible to the Regional Coordinator of the Pattan Autism Initiative for supervision and evaluation.
Fundamental Duties/Essential Functions
- Provide on-site guided practice to teachers and other classroom staff within PAI sites
- Develop and implement statewide trainings for district administration, classroom staff, parents, caregivers and families
- Review data systems and integrity of consultation and implementation based off Site Reviews
- Maintain and monitors visitation summaries as guided by PAI forms; develops and delivers training materials to administration, internal coaches, teachers, and other site staff.
- Provide sites with assistance with technical issues in behavior analysis including functional behavior assessments, analysis of instructional programs, and analysis of verbal behavior
- Collaborate with Internal Coach and Intermediate Unit Technical Assistant Consultants in guiding site to implement criteria listed on Pattan Autism Initiative Site Review Form.
- Maintain consultation summaries and complete Statewide Technical Assistance database for all technical assistance.
- Develop and present internal trainings.
- Provide training and guided practice on the administration of behavior language assessments.
- Participate in training opportunities and staff meetings relative to the duties of the position.
- Represent the PaTTAN Autism Initiative in the education community as needed.
- Travel locally and statewide as a part of work scope in order to support IU’s and school districts and to participate in trainings.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Pattan Autism Initiative Leadership Team, including Regional Coordinators or Executive Director.
Skills And Abilities
Individuals must possess these skills, knowledge and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Some requirements may exclude individuals who pose a direct threat or significant risk to the health and safety of themselves or other employees.
- Knowledge of the Pennsylvania Early Intervention Services System Act of 1990, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Chapter 14 of the School Code and relevant department bulletins and Basic Education Circulars.
- Ability to transport and use any audio-visual equipment and materials to perform the job required to accomplish essential functions.
- Knowledge of the Bureau of Special Education System.
- Ability to orally communicate effectively in English with others in all levels of group and individual contacts.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing, using the English language, including computer-based communication using e-mail, word processing and data base systems.
- Ability to work with a variety of individuals in teams, both as a leader and as a participant, who are geographically dispersed.
- Ability to work well and cooperate with related professional and departmental staff. This includes demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of instructing/presenting to various audiences using adult learning strategies.
- Ability to present oneself in a professional manner to include personal appearance and a pleasant demeanor to others.
- Ability to provide personal, reliable vehicle for own travel requirements.
- Education:
Possess a Masters Degree in education, psychology, speech pathology, or related field and BCBA certified or currently enrolled in program. - Experience:
Have a minimum of four years of experience working with children with autism in a clinical setting, preferred.
