Senior Mechanical Engineer – King of Prussia, PA
Salary: $140,000 - $170,000 (contingent on experience and demonstrated technical proficiency)
We’re seeking a full‑time mechanical engineer to lead our expanding team and contribute to the design and management of mechanical and piping projects in the pharmaceutical and food & beverage industries. LAPORTE is a consulting engineering firm that has been in business for 25 years.

Responsibilities- Lead projects and a team independently; develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs, drawings, and specifications for HVAC, dust collection, chilled water, heating water, controls, and plumbing systems.
- Manage contracts and clients for MEP projects.
- Train and grow the Mechanical team.
- Review and ensure quality of deliverables and project execution (estimated 50% of workload).
- Design HVAC, hydronic, and steam systems (estimated 50% of workload).
- Assess project requirements, decompose tasks, collaborate with Project Managers to determine scope, budget, and staffing.
- Write scope of work for mechanical or utility design based on preliminary review and client meetings.
- Prepare engineering studies and schematic designs for new systems and analyze operation of existing systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- 8+ years of design engineering experience.
- Experience in engineering consulting in food and beverage manufacturing or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Knowledge of HVAC system design and central utilities including steam, chilled water, and compressed air systems.
- Experience designing material handling and dust collection systems.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical codes and standards including ASHRAE, ACGIH, and NFPA.
- Familiarity with ISPE and HACCP requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and Revit.
