Brief OverviewCHOP is hiring for an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work on our Inpatient General Pediatrics team at our King of Prussia, PA Hospital.
The ideal candidate will have:- At least 1 year of experience practicing as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
- In collaboration with an attending physician, the Advanced Practice Provider is responsible for the direct care and follow-up of a population of patients that matches their delineation of privileges and skill set. This care is delivered in defined inpatient and hospital‑outpatient areas.
- Clinical practice, consultation, professional development, education, and research responsibilities.
- Possibly acute/critical care education and certification, determined by scope of role.
- Clinical portion requires increased accountability including managing a cohort of high acuity patients.
- May be required to utilize invasive interventions and procedures.
- Off‑shift responsibilities and rotation schedule may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Assess the complex acute, critical and chronically ill patient for urgent and emergent conditions.
- Use relevant data to evaluate for physiological instability.
- Utilize the data to formulate a plan of care.
- Perform therapeutic interventions to stabilize acute and critical health problems.
- Analyze indications, contraindications, risk of complications and cost‑benefits of therapeutic interventions.
- Manage the plan of care through evaluation, modification and documentation.
- Manage changes in condition with focus on optimizing outcomes.
- Incorporate health promotion, protection and injury prevention measures into care.
- Facilitate patient transitions between and within health care settings.
- Serve as an educational resource to patient/family, nursing staff, and provider team.
- Act as a consultant to multidisciplinary health care team members.
- Participate in scholarly activities including research and education.
- Maintain required competencies, identify learning needs, and pursue appropriate educational offerings.
- Support professional development of others as preceptor or mentor.
- Demonstrate commitment to patient safety and shared accountability.
- Master’s Degree in Nursing (required for Nurse Practitioner)
- Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant (required for Physician Assistant)
- Work effectively in an inter‑professional team setting with multiple responsibilities.
- Use computer and electronic medical records effectively.
- Basic computer competency: use of mouse, keyboard, printer, USB ports, Microsoft Office, web browsing, intranet search, document access, shared network file space, patient‑facing technology.
- Navigate EHR system and clinical communication systems.
- Determine necessary clinical information, access it, evaluate sources, incorporate findings, and manage data effectively.
- Use quality improvement tools.
- Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) or (New Jersey) – upon hire – Required.
- Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) (Pennsylvania) or Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) (New Jersey) – upon hire – Required.
- Prescriptive Authority (Pennsylvania or New Jersey) – within 3 months – Required.
